1. Tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to CERN?
Hi Everyone! My name is Jeana and I have been in the Geneva area for most of my life after relocating as a kid, being brought up through the international school system. As I was graduating from my bachelors and looking into masters programmes, I was looking for something to compliment my situation and my values. Being in an international environment is something important to me in the workplace, and I think it always will be because of my background! CERN naturally became a company that worked well because I was going to be a student and there is a dedicated programme for students, as well as the international aspect. Not only that, my favourite subjects in school were always around science, and I found anything space-related fascinating.

2. What do you do at CERN today?
I am working in the talent acquisition team for both staff recruitment and student and graduate recruitment. Something I like about my job is that my tasks are very diverse, one week I will be at a career event, another I will be taking pictures and creating social media content, and another I will be in selection committees creating statistics or setting up interviews. No day is really the same, it all depends on what is going on at the time - but that’s what makes my work fun.

3.What is working at CERN like for you?
Working at CERN has been such a positive experience for me, mostly due to my amazing team. We are all supportive of one another, open to new ideas and proactive. Even though I am a student, I know that if I bring an idea to the table today, everyone would take me seriously and may even implement it. Everyone in the team is valued and heard and I love that. Outside of day to day work, there are so many opportunities to meet other students in different departments through events and clubs.

4.  What advice would you give potential applicants?
Be confident in your abilities and what you can bring to the table! I like to say that sometimes how you say something is more important than what you say - nothing beats a positive and enthusiastic attitude where you can really see the passion.
